Outcast ASCII Game

While cleaning up around the desk, I found an old CD-ROM that had the word Outcast written with a sharpie marker on it. Outcast happens to be the first video game that I made, back in 2002. Ah, to be a teenager again.

Outcast is an ASCII text Role-Playing Game. I made this game as part of a small team, over a three month time-frame. Even though I don't have the boxart and user manual, I decided to share this game on the Punk This Studios website; as a FREE download.

If only it were that easy...

However, after testing the game to ensure that it still runs on today's hardware, I found a couple of issues. First was the terrible looping music. It got annoying real quick, so I modded the music out of the game. Trust me, it is better this way. Next is the ASCII art itself. The main character is meant to be a yellow smiley face, while the enemies are red smiley faces. Depending on your version of Windows OS, these characters may appear differently. The good news is that the game is still fully functional from start to finish.

I hope you enjoy this blast from the past. Punk This Studios did not originally create this game, and is not responsible for providing any form of support. This game is being provided for free, as is. Once again, to download a free copy of the game, click on the below image.
